Trail Running News:
- Jake is making a short video about me and running. I had wanted to document some stuff about my running and when Jake told me of a mountain biker he's filming for class, I thought I'd ask him if he'd take me on as an endeavor as well. He said YES woohoo! Okay duh. Well, we went on an 11 mile journey in The Lair O' The Bear because I thought it'd be good training for my HALF MARATHON coming up. Yeah I said it, refer to the next bullet point for more info. It was indeed good training, felt good, and Jake rode his mountain bike behind me and made me stop a few times for some footage. The last half of the run however was post sunset and we were without headlamps or jackets. Not the most fun time ever, but an adventure none-the-less.
- I'M DOING MY FIRST HALF MARATHON! Omg. So, I decided I wanted to do a half marathon by the end of August. Don't ask me why I chose that time frame, I can't remember. Maybe it felt like a challenge, I don't know. So in my Trail Runner Magazine "Inside Dirt" emails, they always list a ton of trail races by area. I looked for a half marathon distance between like August 28th and September 3rd or so. There were only two that appealed to me and both sounded ridiculously difficult. But I really want to do one then, so i chose the Black Squirrel Trail Half Marathon in Ft Collins on August 31 (the day after my birthday, which for some odd reason feels even more appropriate. The problem now is, though I'm still nervous about the elevation gain and difficulty, I woke up with a cold today. It's not terrible as of now, but I doubt I'll be healed by then. Really not looking forward to running sick, plus all the training I really really need to do, but we'll see... =/
- Oh and I just got sick on Tuesday, so I haven't even run since Sunday, my long run, and I'm so undertrained for this crazy halfer that I'm terrified that I haven't been able to practice! We'll see. It'll be one of those crazy success stories hopefully.
